My research focuses on uncovering the roles oxidative stress plays in monocyte migration and the development of atherosclerosis and the mechanism through which natural compounds, i.e. phytochemicals, protect against monocyte dysfunction and atherosclerosis in mice. Specifically, I am studying the mechanism of how ursolic acid, an anti-inflammatory phytochemical, reduces accelerated monocyte migration induced by thiol oxidative stress.
