[FDS] warranty

I have a question regarding warranty of FDS modified machines:

Beckman recently stated that they would not continue our service contract
on our instrument since it had the FDS modifications in it, even for the
UV-visible absorbance portion and the instrument functions due to safety
concerns that arose from the changes on the can. For the past 2 years
they picked up the service contract on the instrument (even though we
couldn't even use it - it was in the UNH shop) - but now they say it
should have never been covered and so they are cancelling it.

Could someone in the know please clarify what agreement with Beckman
exists for these machines. It was my understanding that Aviv Biomedical
had made arrangements with Beckman so that they would continue the service
contract and none of the changes on the instrument would void warranty.
